Joseph J. Wujastyk
Mr. Joseph J. Wujastyk, age 90, of 55 Liberty Street, Salamanca, New York died surrounded by his family, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 following a short illness at The Absolut of Salamanca.
Born on December 20, 1921 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Louis & Celia Prybylo Wujastyk. He was married on November 25, 1943 in Salamanca, New York to the former Alice Subulski who survives.
Mr. Wujastyk was employed by the former B & O and CSX Railroad for 43 years retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen, a life member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club, Elkdale Country Club where he enjoyed many years of golfing, and a member of the former BPO Elks Lodge #1025. He spent many winters in North Ft. Myers, Florida where he made many new friends. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Surviving besides his wife of 68 years are: 2 sons, Dennis (Sally) Wujastyk, Salamanca, New York, James Wujastyk, Little Valley, New York; a granddaughter, Amanda (Fred) Witt, Great Valley, New York; a grandson, Greg Wujastyk, Salamanca, New York; a great grandson, Ryden Wujastyk, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews including, Gary (Darlene) Subulski, Killbuck, New York, a sister-in-law, Beverly Wujastyk, Phoenix, Arizona.
He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Walter Wujastyk, Stanley Wujastyk, Harry Wujastyk, and a sister, Genevieve Shonitsky.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in Our Lady of Peace Parish at 11 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.
