Joseph Myers Sr.

Mr. Joseph Myers Sr., age 94, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at The Absolut of Orchard Park, New York.

Born on February 1, 1920 in Killbuck, New York he was the son of the late Stephen & Anna Jankowski Myers. He was married on April 7, 1951 to the former Helen Brol who survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 3209 ENGR FF CO in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Myers was employed as a Foreman of the Cable Splicers with New York Telephone, East Aurora, New York prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the former BPO Elks Lodge #1025 in Salamanca, NY Telephone Pioneers Club where he served as former president, served as an usher at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, Florida. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are: 1 son, Joseph ( Marjorie)Myers, Jr., White Pine, TN; 2 daughters, Julia (John) Florea, Hamburg, New York , Cynthia (Robert) Lockwood, Brewster, New York; a daughter-in-law, Susan Myers, Pearland, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Michael Myers, a brother, Stephen Myers, and a sister, Florence King.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Calvary Cemetery on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York 14779.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Research.
