Joshua J. Weir

Joshua J. Weir, age 30, of Great Valley, New York died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his home following a long illness.

Born November 13, 1984 in Olean, New York, he was the son of John and Joette Oliverio Weir of Great Valley.

Josh attended the League for the Handicapped in Springville, New York at an early age, continuing his education in Salamanca, and finishing at Washington West in Olean, under the loving guidance of his long-time teacher, Pam Nutt, Allegany, and his aide, Linda Harrington, Limestone. He graduated in 2006.

He enjoyed listening to music, watching tv and movies, and traveling anywhere, especially south. He loved his Newfoundland dogs, Angus and Addy, that were by his side always.

Surviving besides his parents are: 2 brothers whom he adored, Jordan Weir, Pittsburgh, PA, Jake Weir, Jupiter, FL; godparents who are also an uncle and aunt, Michael (Laurie) Oliverio, Plant City, FL, Sharon (Robert) Pulos, Cuba, NY; paternal grandfather, John Weir Sr., Salamanca, NY; the Barnes and Barton families of SC; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen Oliverio, and paternal grandmother, Shirley Weir.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Empire Animal Rescue (EARS), 2 Fancher Ave, Salamanca, NY or the League of Handicapped, 393 North Street, Springville, NY.
