Judith M. Mattson

Judith Mattson, 71, of Salamanca, NY died unexpectedly Thursday morning, October 27, 2022 at home.

Born June 18, 1951 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leo Kosinski and Theresa Bdzak Bateski. She was married February 12, 1983 to Bernard Mattson, who predeceased her in 2019.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1969.

Judy had been employed as a manager of the Salamanca McDonalds for over 20 years and started her career in food service at the former Edlee Restaurant, Salamanca, NY.

She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, slot machines, attending her family’s sporting events, and she will be remembered for her colorful vocabulary.

Surviving are: two daughters, Theresa Pearl, Olean, NY, Candice (Gary) Walton, Salamanca, NY; a son, Michael Ficek, SC; seven grandchildren, Lacee Pearl, Kaylee Pearl, Harley Ficek, Drew Ficek, Payton Bigler, Peyton Walton, and Colton Walton; a great-grandson, Jackson McDow; three sisters, Marcia (Kevin) Hill, Deborah Maley, Beverly (Jeffrey) Pond, all of Salamanca, NY; two brothers, Larry Kosinski, TN, Thomas (Erycka) Kosinski, Pavilion, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Leo Kosinski.

Memorial visitation will be held at the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 5 – 8pm.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 274 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY on Thursday at 11am with Rev. Dennis Mancuso officiating, pastor, as celebrant.
