Keith L. Smith

Keith L. Smith, 88, of Salamanca, New York died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Veteran’s Administration WNY Healthcare System in Buffalo, New York.

Born December 17, 1926 in Marlinton, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Lee Andrew and Edith Simmons Smith. He was married on December 1, 1953 in Edray, West Virginia to the former Alvonia “Abby” Alderman, who survives.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Louisville Heavy Cruiser in the South Pacific during WWII.

He was employed at Bush Industries in Falconer, New York prior to his retirement in 1990. Previously, he had been employed at Otis Steel in Ellicottville, Crowley Machine Shop, and Champion International in Cattaraugus.

Mr. Smith was a member of the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1002 and the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535.

Surviving besides his wife are: six daughters, Devonia Smith, Salamanca, NY, Debra (Michael) Revetti, Dawsonville, GA, Dee (Steven) Greenspan, Dawsonville, GA, Donna (George) Smith, Jamestown, NY, Frances (Eugene) Howard, Bryant, TX, Viola (Roy) Fowler, South Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Lawrence (Dorothy) Smith, Williamson, GA; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brother, Lawrence Smith, Lee A. Smith, Jr., and Harold Smith.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
