Kenneth Yarnes
Kenneth Yarnes, age 87, of Front Ave. Salamanca, New York died, Friday August 8, 2008 at his home.
Born on February 1, 1921 in Lackawanna, New York he was the son of the late William and Caroline Eigenman Yarnes. He was married on June 7, 1947 in Holy Cross Church to the former Florence Kochaniec who survives.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in the European Theatre during WWII. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Yarnes was employed as a finisher at Fancher Furniture for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296. He enjoyed playing cards with his family, listening to records, and was an avid reader.
Surviving besides his wife are: 4 sons, Richard (Laura) Yarnes, Mt. Morris, New York, Dean (Becky) Yarnes, Great Valley, New, Mark (Britta) Yarnes, Portville, New York, David (Gina) Yarnes, Fort Mills, SC, one daughter, Carol (Lynn) Weaver, Salamanca, New York, twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren,
There will be no visitation .
A memorial mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace (Holy Cross) at the convenience of the family. The O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York is in charge of funeral arrangements.
