LaVerne H. Raub

LaVerne H. Raub, age 80, of 28 Chestnut Street, Salamanca, New York died Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Olean General Hospital.

Born on April 19, 1927 in Allegany, New York he was the son of the late Harry and Helen Reynolds Raub. He was married to the former Rosaphine Jimerson who predeceased him in February 1998.

Mr. Raub was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal.

He was employed at ONtario Knife Company, Franklinville, New York for many years. He was later employed at Pease's Farm in Elkdale, New York.

Mr. Raub was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296, a past member of the American Legion Hughes Skiba Post #535, and the IOOB, Franklinville, New York.

Surviving are: a son, Harry (Ethel) Raub, Olean, New York; a daughter, Colette Raub Thompson, Lackawanna, New York; a step son, Thomas (Tami) Redeye Sr., Steamburg, New York; 4 step daughters, Sandra (Dar) Dowdy, Steamburg, New York; many grandchildren & great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Killian, Rochester, New York.

He was predeceased by a step son, Charles Cooper.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 11:00 A.M. with rev. Michael Peters of Koinonia Christian Church officiating.
