Lenora Smith
Lenora “Honey” Smith, age 85, of Salamanca, New York died early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2015 at her home.
Born December 15, 1929 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Martha Pierce Friday. She was married to Jeremiah Smith, who predeceased her April 19, 1993.
She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Wolf Clan.
Mrs. Smith had been employed as a Slot Attendant for the Seneca Allegany Casino prior to her retirement at the age of 79. She had previously been employed as a Site Manager for the SNI Area Office of the Aging.
She enjoyed gambling, reading, and in her youth, bowling. She loved to help others.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mary Moses, Salamanca, NY; four sons, Warren Moses, Salamanca, NY, David (Judy) Smith, Cleveland, NY, Patrick Smith, Salamanca, NY, James Smith, AK; many grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Bucktooth, Salamanca, NY; a brother, Robert Bucktooth, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Carol Moses and Deborah Smith, and a son, Elsworth Moses.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Fr. Ray of the Eastern Catholic Church, Niagara Falls, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, New York.
