Lillian Stratton Smith
Lillian Stratton Smith, age 86, of 154 Lincoln Avenue, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York.
Born on August 29, 1921 in Little Valley, New York she was the daughter of the late Morgan and Elva Stevens Whipple. She was married to Mr. Palmer Smith, 154 Lincoln Ave, Salamanca, New York who survives. Previously, she was married to Mr. George Stratton who predeceased her on February 21, 1976.
Mrs. Stratton Smith was the owner of the former Sears & Roebuck Catalog Store in Salamanca, New York for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church, the Zonta Club, she belonged to the Southern Tier China Painting Association, and served a number of years on the Salvation Army Board.
Surviving besides her husband are: a son, Michael (Rosemary) Stratton, Lakeview, New York; a granddaughter; 3 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, David Stratton, on November 25, 1965.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a time and place to be announced.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
