Lore Largeman
Mrs. Lore Largeman, age 75, of Broad Street, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, New York following a long battle with cancer.
Born on November 4, 1935 in the town of Bad-Nauheim, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Robert Grimm. Lore grew up in the restaurant and inn that her parents ran, DieKrone (The Crown). She married Dr. Howard C. Largeman on November 16, 1954 and moved to the United States. The couple soon settled in Salamanca, New York, where Dr. Largeman set up a dental practice.
Lore was always an active member of the community and was a member of several groups, including Quadays, The Salamanca Euterpean Club, Interfaith Caregivers, and the Temple B'Nai Israel Sisterhood. She was an avid supporter of the arts and held seasons tickets for many years at the Lucille Ball Little Theater in Jamestown, New York as well as opera tickets at the Chautauqua Opera. Lore was also a member of the Little Valley, New York, Rod & Gun Club, spending many summers there with her family.
Despite her failing health in recent years, Lore still managed to follow her adventurous spirit, traveling to China, Ireland, Bahrain, Germany and other destinations. Friends and family remember her as a beautiful, compassionate, lighthearted woman who was always ready with a smile and a kind gesture.
Surviving are: 5 children, Randy (Allison) Largeman, Albany, Georgia; Elizabeth (Ronald) Kalnitz, Buffalo, New York; Robert Largeman, Cumming, Georgia; Dr. Joseph (Francye) Largeman, Hamilton, Georgia; Frances (Jonathan) Largeman-Roth, Brooklyn, New York; 10 grandchildren; 2 nieces and a nephew in Germany.
Lore was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Frieda Klotz.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday afternoon, February 19, 2011 from 2-4 P.M.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday morning, February 20, 2011 at 10 A.M. with Rabbi Rosenfeld, Buffalo, New York officiating.
Burial will be in B'Nai Israel Cemetery, Olean, New York.
