Malcolm Pelton

Malcom A. Pelton, 98, of Ellicottville Terrace, Ellicottville, NY formerly of Lafayette, IN, died Friday, December 16, 2022 at Pines Healthcare, Machias, NY following a long illness.

Born June 29, 1924 in Salamanca, NY, son of the late Clarence and Mary Hartman Pelton. He was married in September of 1948 to Clara Pelton who predeceased him in 2005.

Mr., Pelton was a graduate of Salamanca Highschool and received his Bachelor of Science degree at Syracuse University.

He was a veteran of the United State Army, serving stateside.

Mr. Pelton owned and operated Velie’s Aluminum and Siding retiring in 1985. He had been employed as a bus driver for over ten years in Lafayette, IN. He also had been employed at Bausch & Lomb in Manhattan, NY.

He was a member of the former Great Valley Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and heath enthusiast.

Surviving are: two sons, David (Sandy) Pelton, Great Valley, NY, Douglas (Lynn) Pelton, Houston, TX; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Pelton; a daughter-in-law, Wanda (David) Leman, IN.

He was predeceased by a son, Arthur Pelton, a brother, Lowell Pelton, and a sister, Carolyn Smith.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the Great Valley Community Church, 5063 US-219, Great Valley, NY 14741.
