Margaret Abrams

Margaret Abrams, 79, of Broad Street, Salamanca, New York , died early Saturday morning, March 15, 2014 at home.

Born January 9, 1935, in Jamestown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Fidelia Jimerson Sr. She was married in June of 1953 to the late Cornelius Abrams Jr.

She was employed as a dietitian at the Salamanca Nursing Home, The Bradford Manor, and retired from The Bradford Regional Medical Center. She also was elected as Judge at the Peacemakers Court for the Seneca Nation of Indians.

Mrs. Abrams was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Turtle Clan, and Coldspring Longhouse.

Surviving are: 1 daughter, Darlys Schafer, Jimersontown, NY; 1 granddaughter, Leah Shumack; 1 great-granddaughter, Caterina Huff, both of Salamanca, NY; 1 brother, Avery Jimerson Jr., Jimersontwon, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 1 daughter, Sharon Shumack and 1 granddaughter, Jessica Shumack.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Sunday and Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 10 A.M.

Burial will be in Hillside Heaven Cemetery.
