Margaret Simcox, age 80, of Mutton Hollow Road, Great Valley, died Sunday (May 30, 2010) at the Pines of Machias, Machias, New York
Born on July 31, 1929, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Keyes Hoffman. She was married in Red House, NY, July 31, 1949, to the late Clair Simcox, who predeceased her in 1978.
Mrs. Simcox was a past employee at Allegany State Park in the Red House area, and the former Salamanca District Hospital, retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed working with plastic canvas, and yarn. She was known to create useful items and give them away as gifts. She loved animals; her cats and dogs were her companions.
Surviving are her son, Albert “Abby” (Cheri) Simcox of Great Valley; 1 sister, Alberta (David) Yeagle of Bradford, PA; 1 niece, Pauline (David) Milks, of Jimersontown; and 1 cousin, Gloria (Paul) Neider of Jamestown; and several grand-animals.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Friends of Strays or the SPCA.
