Marian John

Marian John, 87, of Old Route 17, Salamanca, New York died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, New York, following a short illness.

Born May 29, 1929 in Cold Spring, New York, she was the daughter of the late Leland Sr. and Evalene Crouse John.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1947. She received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Jamestown Community College.

Marian began her career at the Bradford Regional Medical Center and transferred to the former Salamanca District Hospital, where she worked for over twenty years, retiring as the evening nursing supervisor in 1989.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Wolf Clan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending sporting events.

Surviving are: a sister, Carolyn John, Jamestown, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Ora John, Leland John Jr., Calvin “Kelly” John, and Eugene John.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 3 – 5 & 7 – 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Jimersontown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Marvin Abrams, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Jimersontown Presbyterian Church.
