Marilyn Jones

Marilyn R. Jones, 89, of Salamanca, NY died early Friday morning, March 17, 2017 at the Pines Health & Rehab, Olean, NY, following a long illness.

Born April 11, 1927 in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Bertha Gibbs Swanson. She was married on March 14, 1983 to Ora Jones, who predeceased her on October 1, 2006. Previously, she was married on January 6, 1943 to Charles Gordon, who predeceased her on February 8, 1982.

She had been employed as an LPN at the former Salamanca Nursing Home and the former Lockwood Nursing Home in Salamanca, as well as a Receptionist for the Seneca Nation of Indians Healthcare Center, and at the former Salamanca District Hospital.

Surviving are: a son, James Gordon, Pryor, OK; four granddaughters, Susan (Brad) Cunningham, OK, Jennifer (Curtis) Hager, OK, Lori (Kurt) Henry, San Diego, CA, Kathy Gordon, Salamanca, NY; three grandsons, Kevin (Robin) Gordon, OK, Jeramy (Tish) Gordon, OK, Jeffrey Gordon, Frewsburg, NY; twelve great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Rae Jones, Mary (Lester) Shongo, Debra (Dan) Johnson; her niece and caregiver, Janice Gordon France, Randolph, NY.

She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Gordon, in March 2014 and David Gordon in July 2014.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY.

Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Fire Dept Ambulance Fund.
