Martin Coyer
Martin J. Coyer, 70, of Afton, Tennessee, formerly of Cattaraugus, New York died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Greeneville, Tennessee.
Born June 2, 1945 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Ira and Marie Bowen Coyer. He was married on July 20, 1968 in Olean, New York to the former Lorelei Blough, who survives.
He had most recently been employed as a computer analyst for Eurpac in Virginia Beach, VA. He had also been employed at Wang Laboratories in Columbus, OH, AVX in Olean, NY, Jamestown Sterling in Jamestown, NY, Prudential Insurance in Salamanca, NY, National Cash Register in Erie, PA, the State of Indiana Lottery Department, and started his work career at Setterstix in Cattaraugus, NY.
Mr. Coyer was a former member of St. John’s Church in Cattaraugus, NY. He enjoyed spending time with his family, the outdoors, camping, and restoring old cars.
Surviving beside his wife are: three sons, Steven Coyer, Lakewood, NY, Christopher (Stephanie) Coyer, Gloucester, VA, William (Katherine) Coyer, Dunwoody, GA; a daughter, Sonia Coyer, North Chesterfield, VA; a grandson, Jacob Coyer, Gloucester, VA; a sister, Lois (Jim) Smith, Bonita Springs, FL; uncle, Dick Bowen, MI; cousins, Eunice Bitzer, Bill (Sally) Bowen; family friend, Marc Phillips; four-legged sons, Jaxon and Montana; and many other loved ones.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Coyer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 1p.m. in St. John’s Church, 28 Ellicott Street, Cattaraugus, New York with Rev. Michael Trenchard officiating. A luncheon will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
