Mrs. Mary May Whitmer, 81, of Kill Buck, NY, died Wednesday evening, January 25, 2023 at the Pines Healthcare and Rehab Center, Olean, NY, following

Born January 16, 1942 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late David and Elsie Mahl Bowley. She was married to Mr. Wayne Yaw, who predeceased her in 1964. Later, she married Mr. Robert Whitmer, who predeceased her in 2015.

Mrs. Whitmer had been employed as a machine operator at Bush Industries in Little Valley, NY for over 25 years, retiring in 2005.

She was a member of the former Kill Buck Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with her family, especially the holiday parties, crocheting, and tending flowers in her garden.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mary Yaw, Portville, NY and Elsie (Raymond) Green, TN; two sons, Charles “Chuck” (Theresa) Yaw, Salamanca, NY and Wayne (Judy) Yaw, Mt. Holly Springs, PA; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn (Richard) Shear, Ellicottville, NY, and Gladys Ingersoll, FL; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Yaw in 1986, a brother, Wayne Bowley, a sister, Ruth Matteson, a grandson, David Yaw in 1982, and infant triplets in 1958.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family and will be announced with Rev. Michael Lonto officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the donor’s choice.
