Mary Robinson
Mary A. Robinson, 78, formally of Salamanca, NY died Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2021, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, Bradford, PA following a long illness.
Born February 23, 1943, in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wilmont and Arlene Waite Watson.
Mary was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1961. Later in life she attended B.O.C.E.S Vo-Tech in Ellicottville and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Employed at the Saint Elizabeth Mother House, and Home Health Care of Western New York, after retirement Mary decided to take a job with the Green Thumb of WNY in Allegany, NY.
Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother (Nana). While her children were young, she was a room mother in their elementary classrooms. She loved working with Salamanca youth and was both a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, watching her favorite NASCAR driver #24, Jeff Gordon, and baking cookies and pies.
Surviving are three daughters, Nannette Backus, Theresa, NY; Lynnette (Joey) Magiera, Little Valley, NY; Jolene Mancini, Fairport, NY; two sons, John Walton, Memphis, NY; James (Jaime) Walton, Allegany, NY; nine grandchildren, Andrew Backus, Matthew Magiera, Pamela Backus, Bradley Walton, Brayden Walton, Kyleigh Walton, Mollie Walton, Marissa Mancini and Luciana Mancini; four great-grandchildren, Kane Backus, Kaleb Backus, Natalia Cianfrocco, and Benito Cianfrocco; several nieces, nephews, and cousins
Mary was predeceased by two sisters, Sue Burdick, Nancy Baxter and two brothers William (Billy) Watson and Jerry (Jigs) Watson; close companion and friend, Earnest Robinson, Sr. and most recently niece, Nikki Watson Kavanaugh.
Memorial visitation will be held in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca NY on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10 – 11:30am at which time a memorial service will be held with Pastor Eric Hice of the Center Street Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Little Valley Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
