Matthew W. Maybee
Mr. Matthew W. Maybee, age 40, of Jimerson Road, Salamanca, New York died unexpectedly Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York.
Born on March 4, 1975 in Olean, New York, he was the son of Kathy John, Great Valley, New York and David Gordon, of the Cattaraugus Reservation.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Wolf Clan.
Mr. Maybee was employed as a union laborer for over 10 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, doing yard work, and 4 wheeling, spending time with his family and friends, and helping anyone who needed assistance.
Surviving besides his mother and father are: his companion of 13 years, Bethany Johnson; 3 daughters, Autumn Maybee, Morgan Maybee, Marlee Maybee, all of Salamanca, New York; additional daughters, Jocelyn Cook, Chelsea (Vern) Cook, Adrianne Cook, Kamryn Cook, all of Salamanca, New York; a half brother, Dion Gordon; 2 grandchildren, Acelynn Jacobs, Duey Longboat, both of Salamanca, New York; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Christopher Maybee on June 5, 1996 and a sister, Danette Gordon on July 16, 2000.
Friends may call at the family home, 8151 Jimerson Road, Salamanca, New York beginning late Monday afternoon and continuing all day Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at the family home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with John Block, Speaker of the Coldspring Longhouse, officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, New York.
