Mattie Buckner
Mattie Buckner, age 98, of Eagle Street, Salamanca, New York died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Wellsville Manor.
Born on October 8, 1909 in Red House, New York she was the daughter of the late Jewett Snyder and Rhonda Plummer Simcox. She was married on December 13, 1950 to Mr. John Buckner who predeceased her on May 8, 1984.
Mrs. Buckner was employed during WWII for Bell Aircraft, Buffalo, New York and later for General Motors Chevrolet Division, Tonawanda, New York.
She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians Hawk Clan, a member of the former Red House Baptist Church, and loved nature and wildlife.
Surviving are: several nieces and nephews including Marlene (Frank) Habitzreuther, Pittsford, NY; Marta Peterson; Rhonda (Todd Bateman) Peterson, Farmington, NY; Dean (Penny) Peterson, Salamanca, NY; Dennis Peterson, Steamburg, NY; Theodore Peterson Jr., Steamburg, NY.
She was predeceased by 4 brothers, Clair Simcox, Roscoe Snyder, Mark Snyder; Mark Simcox, a sister, Myrtle Peterson.
Friends may call on Saturday (December 29, 2007) from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Pastor Mike Peters of Koniniona Christian Church officiating.
