Maxine A. Terhune

Maxine A. Terhune, 86, of Salamanca, NY died Friday morning, January 19, 2024 at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.

Born September 13, 1937 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude Moffat Bargy. She was married March 4, 1967 in the Free Methodist Church Parsonage to Glen M. Terhune, who predeceased her in 2007.

She had been employed as a nurse with the Salamanca District Hospital, Salamanca, NY for over twenty-five years. She was also a homecare and hospice provider for over twenty years.

Maxine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various sporting/school events. She also enjoyed the outdoors, sitting in the sun, crocheting, word searches, puzzle books, traveling, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Surviving are: two daughters, Sherry (Ross) Ledsome, Cathy (Jack) Stoltz, both of Salamanca, NY; two sons, Gregory (Lisa) Terhune, Andover, NY, Gary (LeeAnn) Terhune, Amherst, NY; four granddaughters, Emma Terhune, Andover, NY, Lauren (Joseph) Tidd, Salamanca, NY, Claire Terhune, Amherst, NY, Gabrielle Terhune, Andover, NY; six grandsons, Grady Terhune, Andover, NY, Carter Stoltz, Salamanca, NY, Liam Terhune, Amherst, NY, Elden Terhune, Andover, NY, Michael Paulin, Miles Paulin, both of Binghamton, NY; a great-granddaughter, Addelyn Tidd, Salamanca, NY; a special niece and nephew, Bill (Laura) Bargy, Nan Bargy, both of Frewsburg, NY.

She was predeceased by five sisters, June Bargy, Rowena Hoxie, Laura Gustafson, Allie Locicero, Doris Dankoff, and nine brothers, Raymond Bargy, William Bargy, Robert Bargy, Harry Bargy, Glen Edwards, Marion Edwards, Floyd Bargy, Lawrence Edwards, Dale Edwards.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 3 – 6pm at which time funeral services will be held with Rev Mike Peters, officiating.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, 665 Elm Street, Buffalo, NY 14203.
