Merle R. Jimerson

Merle R. Jimerson, 66, of Salamanca, NY, died Friday, February 16, 2024 at home following a long illness.

Born December 21, 1957 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Lester and Hazel Thompson Jimerson.

Merle was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and of the Turtle Clan.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1976.

Merle was a veteran of the United States Army.

He had been a self-employed artist who enjoyed painting, drawing, the outdoors, and fishing. He was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Surviving are: four brothers, Michael D. (Shirley) Jimerson, Salamanca, NY, Gordon (Connie) Jimerson, Steamburg, NY, David B. Jimerson, Salamanca, NY, Patrick A. Jimerson, Steamburg, NY; three sisters, Debra M. Hoag, Salamanca, NY, Vicki L. Jimerson, Olean, NY, Penelope (Aaron) Minner, Salamanca, NY; an aunt, Patricia Schaeffer, Auburn, PA; an uncle, Edgar Lay, Gowanda, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Alan Jimerson, Dana Jimerson, and Ronald Jimerson.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 10am.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.
