Michael "Mike" Ambuske Sr.

Mr. Michael Gregory Ambuske Sr., age 69, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Salamanca, NY and Bolingbrook, IL died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Marion County Hospice in Ocala, FL.
Born on February 21, 1948 in Salamanca, NY he was the son of the late Shirley Crist O’Neil and the late Frederick Ambuske. He was also the stepson of the late Leroy Pond Sr. and the late Jack O’Neil. He was married on April 12, 1969 to the love of his life, the former Michele Herling, who survives.
Mike was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1966. He received his Associate’s Degree in Business from Jamestown Community College in 1975.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1968 to 1971. He served as a Navy Corpsman attached to the Marines in Da’Nang, Vietnam. He received a National Service Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from the Navy Reserves in 1974.
Mike retired from Shawk Global Corporation, Chicago, IL in 2010 after 15 years of service.
He was an avid golfer, and a die-hard Yankees fan. He enjoyed remodeling,, fixing things and washing his car. His life revolved around his wife, family, and his friends. He loved spending time with them. He was happiest when he could help a friend, neighbor, or someone in need.
Surviving besides his wife are: a son, Michael Ambuske Jr, Seattle, WA; 2 daughters, Melanie Ambuske-Case, Bradford, PA, Miranda (Nick) Perry, Boston, MA; 4 grandchildren, Michaela (Drew) Thompson, Colorado Springs, CO, Kortny (Matt Anderson) Case, Pittsburgh, PA, Timothy Case, Bradford, PA, Michael “MG” Ambuske III, Green River, WY; and 4 great grandchildren, Kaedyn, Braelynn, Lucas, and Luna. Siblings: Lana (Bobbie) Ghilarducci, Mark (Dawn) Ambuske, Leroy (Barb) Pond Jr., Jeff (Bev) Pond, Julie (Dave) Hamacher; 2 stepsisters, Anita (Randall) Wilkerson, Carol (Thomas) Winkleman; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and Marcus Stephens, who was like a son to him.
He was predeceased by his in-laws, Edward and Florence Herling, niece, Sara Pontaski, sister-in-law, Deborah Hausmann, stepsister, Donna Creeley, and Godson, Kyle Scott.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Salamanca, NY at a time to be announced.
