Mr. Michael A. Phillips
Mr. Michael A. Phillips, 73, of the Town of Salamanca died Friday evening as the result of a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident.
Born February 29, 1944 in Franklinville, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Hattie Burzynski Phillips. He was married on August 17, 1968 in Machias, NY to the former Donna Holmes, who died in the same accident.
He was a 1963 graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, NY. He graduated from Alfred Tech and the University of Georgia, and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from St. Bonaventure University.
Michael was employed as a science teacher at Limestone High School, later Allegany-Limestone Central School for over 40 years. He was currently serving his third term as the Salamanca Town Supervisor.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister. Mike enjoyed tropical fish aquariums, gardening, and long walks with his wife and dogs. He was a model train enthusiast.
Surviving are: a son, Andy (Barbara) Phillips, Great Valley, NY; four grandchildren, Kevin (Sadie Bell) Link, Eldred, PA, Jacob (Monica) Link, Michael (Stephanie) Link, both of Salamanca, NY, Daniel Link, IL; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marcia Phillips, Olean, NY; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Phillips.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 4 – 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish at 10:30 with Rev. Peter Napierkowski, pastor, as celebrant.
