Michael Schapp
Mr. Michael R. Schapp, age 64, of West Bucktooth Run Road, Little Valley, New York, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at his home following a long illness.
Born on December 13, 1946 in Rochester, New York, he was the son of the late Robert & Gertrude Cornelius Schapp. He was married on November 3, 2006, in The House of Prayer, Salamanca, New York, to the former Carolyn Farner Dolph, who survives.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, singing in the the United States Navy Chorus.
Mr. Schapp was employed performing maintenance by the United States Postal Service in Little Valley and Cattaraugus, New York.
He was a member of The House of Prayer where he played music. His passion for music extended throughout the area where he sang gospel music.
Surviving besides his wife are: a sister, Lori (Ronald) Coleman, Florida; a brother, Patrick Schapp, Salamanca, New York; 1 step-daughter, Gail (Tony) Draine, Adams Street, Salamanca; a step-son, Larry (Linda) Dolph, East Bucktooth Run, Salamanca; 4 step-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Tim Schapp.
Memorial visitation will be held at The House of Prayer, Highland Avenue, Salamanca, New York on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 9 A.M. to 11A.M. at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Robert Goode officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials Roswell Park Cancer Institute or Home Care & Hospice, 1225 West State Street, Olean, New York 14760.
