Monica "Nin" Abrams
Monica “Nin” A. Abrams, 87, of Salamanca, NY died Thursday night, January 26, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
Born November 29, 1929 in Bradford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Nancy DePosito Calcagno. She was married on November 26, 1949 in St. Bernard’s Church, Bradford, PA to Robert E. Abrams, who predeceased her on October 28, 1971.
She had been employed as a Bank Teller with the Cattaraugus County Bank and the former Salamanca Federal Savings & Loan in Salamanca. She had previously been employed as an Accountant at the former Farner & Parker Dairy. She also worked as an Election Inspector.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the former St. Patrick’s Church, Zonta Club, the Senior Center, and the Salamanca Historical Society.
Nin loved to laugh and entertain, was an avid Euchre card player, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are: two sons, Jeffrey Abrams, Clarence, NY, Gary (Pearl) Abrams, Gainsville, FL; three daughters, Patricia (Otto) Tertinek, Olean, NY, Kathryn (Brian) DeBoy, North Ft. Meyers, FL, Ann Marie (John) LaHue, Coral Springs, FL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her very special friend, Donald G. Young, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 12 p.m. with Rev. Peter Napierkowski, pastor, as celebrant.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
