Nancy Baker

Nancy L. Baker, 81, of Great Valley, NY died Monday, August 1, 2022 at Absolute Care of Allegany following a long illness.

Born July 23, 1941 in Great Valley, NY she was the daughter of the late Warren Sr. and Gertrude Roberts Passmore. She was married November 14, 1964 in the former St. Patrick’s Church to Theodore J. Baker, who predeceased her in 2021.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1959 and attended Humboldt Institution in Minneapolis, MN.

She had been employed as a teacher’s aide at the former Seneca Intermediate School, Salamanca, NY for over 30 years, retiring in 2009. Previously, upon graduating in Minneapolis, she had been employed with the United States Navy Bureau of Personnel.

Nancy was a member of the Salamanca Lions Club and she enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, music, water aerobics, traveling, and spending time with family.

Surviving are: two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Baker, Holley, NY, Tammy (Thomas) Wind, Gulf Breeze, FL; a son, Stephen (Debbie) Baker, Charlottesville, VA; six grandchildren, Bradley Baker, Endicott, NY, Hunter Pachla, Kohle Pachla, both of Holley, NY, Nicholas Baker, Charlottesville, VA, Tyler Wind, Ryan Wind, both of Gulf Breeze, FL; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Jetta Cole, and a brother, Joseph Passmore.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 5 – 7pm at which time funeral services will be held with Father Moses Ikuelogbon officiating.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.
