Nancy O'Brien

Nancy C. O’Brien, 83, of Salamanca, NY died Friday afternoon, January 5, 2018 shortly after being admitted to the Olean General Hospital

Born August 31, 1934 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Marian Johnson McKay. She was married on April 16, 1955 to Mr. Jack O’Brien, who predeceased her on May 2, 1994.

Mrs. O’Brien was the co-owner and operator of Davis Dry Cleaners in Salamanca.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church, the former St. Patrick’s Church, AARP, Zonta , and SCOUT where she was one of the final sixteen. Nancy will be remembered for her wit, spunk, infectious smile, her Monday night card group, Tuesday dinner club and loved her world travels.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mary Ellen Nelson, Salamanca, NY, Elizabeth (David) Avery, Cary, NC, Carol (Dave Stark) O’Brien, Salamanca, NY; a son, Michael O’Brien, , AL; seven grandchildren; Tracy (Timothy) Volkmann, Rochester, NY , Jay (Brittany Duhan) Nelson, Salamanca, NY Bryan (Megan) Avery, Apex NC, Lauren (Richard) Haas, Cary NC, John O’Brien, Daniel O’Brien, Joshua, O’Brien, all of Alabama, her companion of the last twenty years Jack O’Rourke, ; several nieces and nephews including Cheryl Bean, Plano TX,

Mrs. O’Brien was predeceased by two brothers Terry McKay and Richard McKay

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home., 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday from 4-7 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Saturday (January 13,2018) at a time to be announced with Rev. Peter Napierkowski, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Senior Center, or EARS
