Paul Greene
Mr. Paul Greene, 86, of 418 Center Street, Salamanca, NY, died Sunday evening, April 3, 2011, at his home.
Born on July 14, 1924, in Little Valley, NY, he was the son of the late Lynford and Mildred Hitt Greene. He was married on November 5, 1960, to the former Margaret Rettberg, who predeceased him on July 2, 2006.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving with Company D 793rd Military Police Battalion, serving in Northern France and Rhineland during World War II, receiving a Good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, an American Theatre Campaign Medal, and an EAME Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars.
Mr. Greene had been employed at Fancher Furniture Company for over 30 years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church, and sang with the Community Choir at the church.
Surviving are: a son, David (Mollie McConnell) Greene, of Otto, NY; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, John Greene, of Hiawassee, GA; a sister, Helen Philbrick, of Little Valley, NY; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Greene was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Greene and David Greene; and one sister, Ruth Miller.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the United Congregational Methodist Church, with Father Joshua Schallert, pastor, officiating.
