Phyllis Bishop
Phyllis Bishop, 95, of Salamanca, New York died Saturday (August 12, 2017) at her home.
Born August 12, 1922 in Coudersport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Irene Holcomb Froebel. On August 29, 1942 she married Stanley Bishop who predeceased her Jan. 4, 1985.
Mrs. Bishop owned and operated Phyllis Bishops Beauty Salon for 39 years.
She was a member of the OES Mizpah Chapter 162, where she had served as Matron, the Zonta Club, Salamanca Senior Center, Salamanca chapter of AARP an avid Bridge player, a member of the Salamanca Bridge Club where she held the position of Secretary/Treasurer.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by 3 daughters: Penny Jean (Edward) Tokash of Stockbridge, GA; Nancy Ann (Fred) Waterman, East Aurora, NY; Debra (Daniel) Ross, Stockbridge , GA. 3 sons: Stanley Bishop, State Park Ave., Salamanca, NY; Craig (Nancy L) Bishop of Jonesboro, GA; Kevin Bishop, Sugarland, TX; 11 grandchildren , 16 great grandchildren: one sister Irene Hodge of Hastings NY; one brother David Froebel of Cheektowaga, NY, many nieces and nephews
Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by two sisters; June Bell; Agnes Henry, four brothers: Ronald Froebel ,Herbert Froebel; Floyd D. Froebel; James Froebel
Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 PM at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY, where funeral and committal services will be held on Tuesday at 11: AM with the Rev Terrance Davis, officiating.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
