Raymond Woodarek

Mr. Raymond Woodarek, age 85, of 25 Franklin Street, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday morning, October 31, 2007 at The Absolut of Salamanca, New York.

Born on October 5, 1922 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Rojek Woodarek.

He was married on October 26, 1946 in Holy Cross Church to the former Florence Stefanski who survives.

Mr. Woodarek worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp during the 1930's. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII serving in the Philippines and New Guinea.

He was employed as a Conductor on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for over 43 years retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross Athletic Club, American Legion Hughes Skiba Post #5296, Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens, AARP, S.C.O.U.T and a former member of Elkdale Country Club.

He was very musicall inclined and could play the piano and accordion by ear. He also enjoyed the outdoors especially Allegany State Park.

Surviving besides his wife are: 2 daughters, Mrs. Marsha (John) Beifuss, West Knoxville, TN and Barbara Woodarek, Canastota, NY; 1 son Thomas (Jen) Woodarek, Penfield, NY; 3 grandchildren Jenna Woodarek, John Carroll University, Marla Woodarek, University of Deleware, John Woodarek, Penfield, NY; 1 sister Gertrude Skudlark, Salamanca, NY.

He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Veronica Ronzo, Margaret Woodarek, Dorothy Suchora, 2 brothers Edward Woodarek and Carol Woodarek.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Fuenral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday morning from 10:00 - 11:30 at which time a prayer service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. in Holy Cross Church with Rev. Patrick O'Keefe, of St. Patrick's Church, Randolph, New York as celebrant.

Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

Full Military service will be conducted by the American Legion Hughes Skiba Post #5296.

The family suggests memorials to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 Northwest 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494 and Holy Cross Church.
