Richard F. "Scoby" Sobkowiak

Mr. Richard F. "Scoby" Sobkowiak, 79, of Salamanca, NY died Monday morning, November 1, 2021 at the Hart Comfort House in Wellsville, NY following a long illness.

Born September 21, 1942 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Kubiak Sobkowiak.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1961.

Mr. Scoby was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1962 – 1966, serving aboard the USS Bennington Aircraft Carrier and stateside in Kingsville, TX.

He had been employed with Allegany State Park beginning in 1981. Previously, he had been employed as a mechanic at the former Clifford’s Garage in Salamanca.

Surviving are several cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sister Mary Denise in 1971.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 274 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 10:30am with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
