Robert A. Gordon
Robert A. Gordon, 76, of Salamanca, NY died Monday afternoon, October 3, 2022 at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.
Born October 19, 1945 in Cornplanter, he was the son of the late Vernon and Lila Abrams Gordon. He was married on August 15, 1981 in Salamanca to the former Marcia Metzler, who survives.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Turtle Clan.
Bob had been employed as an equipment operator with the West Valley Nuclear Services Company for over fifteen years, retiring in 2001. With his wife, he then co-owned and operated Robert Gordon Enterprises in Salamanca for ten years. He had also been employed at the former Seneca Lanes in Salamanca.
He enjoyed socializing, going out to breakfast, and evening car rides. He was very generous and helped many individuals and organizations financially. He had a great personality, was always upbeat and joking. He enjoyed bowling, billiards, and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Surviving besides his wife are: a son, Robert M. Gordon, Columbus, OH; a stepdaughter, Amy Metzler, Salamanca, NY; a granddaughter, Aerie Gordon, Blasdell, NY; a brother-in-law, Malcolm G. Metzler; a sister-in-law, Kathi Sarver, both of Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, David Gordon, and an infant sister.
There will be no visitation.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
