Robert C. Lytel
Robert C. “Chief” Lytel, 63, of Steamburg, NY, formerly of Grove Oak, AL, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his home.
Born November 20, 1953 in Jamestown, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Minnie George Lytel. He was married to the former Sandy Turbush, who predeceased him.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving the 41st Infantry 2nd Armored Division during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, was an expert with grenades and was a sharp shooter.
Mr. Lytel had been employed as a Pressman for Pleasant Hill in Duluth, AL.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Guntersville, AL. He was an avid drummer and music lover.
Surviving are: a daughter, Andrea (Mark) Bailey; three grandsons, Mark Bailey Jr., Tyler Davis, Anthony Davis, all of Bradford, PA; a great-grandson, Mark Bailey III, Curwensville, PA; three sisters, Patricia McStraw, Allegany, NY, Bonnie Kettle, Olean, NY, Kim George, Allegany, NY; a brother, Dennis (Victoria) Lytel, Steamburg, NY; several nieces and nephews; his companion, Diana Smith, her two sons, Dale Smith and Mark Smith, all of Grove Oak, AL.
He was predeceased by a brother, Spencer George.
Full military honors will be conducted at the gravesite in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, NY with the Reinforcements Motorcycle Club standing at honor at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY.
