Robert D. Vassar

Robert D. Vassar, 75, of Salamanca, NY died Saturday evening, February 10, 2024 at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.

Born March 27, 1948 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Roy and Ethel Aiken Vassar. He was married at the former St. Patrick’s RC Church on June 18, 1988 to the former Lorre Hill, who survives. He had previously been married to the late Lois Sankey Vassar who predeceased him 1981.

He had been employed as a printer at Ferguson Printing, Salamanca, NY for over 25 years and previously with the Salamanca Press.

Robert enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, especially being with family down at their camp. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Surviving besides his wife are: two sons, Roy (Nancy O’Brien) Vassar, SC, Edward “Skeet” (Joyce) Vassar, CA; a sister, Candy McNally, NY; a brother, Tom Vassar, Ellicottville, NY; several nieces and nephew.

He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Vassar.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Holy Cross Athletic Club, 35 Clinton Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday, February 16, 2024 beginning at 3pm.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
