Robert Douglass-White Eagle
Mr. Robert Douglass-White Eagle, age 93, of Division Street, Salamanca, NY died Wednesday evening, September 28, 2011 at his home.
Born on September 19, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late H. and Irma Madera Little John. He was married to the former Brenda Benson who survives.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the Medical Corp during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Douglas-White Eagle was self-employed as a Public Speaker for American Indian History.
He was an enrolled member of the Western Band of Cherokee.
Surviving besides his wife are: four sons, Robert Douglas, Pittsburg, PA, Bruce Douglas, Upper Darby, PA, Shane (Lisa) White Eagle, Olean, NY, and Lance White Eagle, Salamanca, NY; a daughter, Sandi (Peter) Wilson, Salamanca, NY; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and sisters; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Madeline Douglas.
Friends may call all day Friday at the home of his daughter, Sandi Wilson, 146 Summit Street, Salamanca, NY.
Funeral services will be held in the family home on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, NY .
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street , Salamanca, New York. Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion John F. Ahrens Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign War Hughes-Skiba Post #5296.
