Robert Wachter

Robert J. Wachter, age 49, of Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, New York, died Tuesday evening, March 26, 2013 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York, following a long illness.

Born April 2, 1963 in Olean, New York, he was the son of the late Paul and Jane Janicki Wachter.

He attended St. Patrick's Parochial School and was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1981. He attended JCC in Jamestown, New York.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Club and was a former member of the Salamanca Moose Club. He enjoyed music and played percussion in several area bands, including the original 10,000 Maniacs. He was an avid gemstone collector and made custom walking sticks.

Surviving are: 1 sister, Susan (Bill) Witter, Portville, NY; 2 brothers, Thomas Wachter, Knoxville, TN, Daniel Wachter, Olean, NY; 1 aunt, Sister Ann Wachter OSF, Allegany, NY; 1 uncle, Thomas (Carol) Wachter, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 12 – 1 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Patrick Melfi, of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
