Rose J. Taylor
Rose Jean Taft Taylor, 74, of Salamanca, New York, formerly of Kennedy, New York died early Friday morning, October 2, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Born July 11, 1941 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Perry Pleger. She was married to Mr. Floyd Taft, who predeceased her. On October 14, 2006 in the United Congregational Methodist Church she married Mr. Richard Taylor, who survives.
Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of the Oil City Hospital School of Nursing, as well as earning a degree in Human Services from Jamestown Community College.
She had been employed as a Registered Nurse for the Resource Center in Jamestown prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.
Surviving besides her husband are: a daughter, Candace (Ed) Martinescu, Webster, NY; a step-son, Thomas Taylor, Salamanca, NY; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, John "Jack" (Mary) Pleger, Oil City, PA, Edward (Sally) Pleger, Mansfield, OH, Robert Pleger, Salamanca, NY; 2 sisters, Jane (Wayne) Manruss, Panama City, FL, Nancy (Richard) Murray, Oil City, PA; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday, October 16th from 4 – 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M in the United Congregational Methodist Church on Saturday, October 17th, with Rev. Michael Trenchard officiating.
