Ruth Curtis

Mrs. Ruth E. Curtis, age 73, of Rt. 219, Great Valley, New York died late Saturday evening, October 2, 2010 at her home following a long illness.

Born November 27, 1936 in Buffalo, New York she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Post Carney. She was predeceased by her life companion , Bruce D. Curtis, who passed away in 2005.

Mrs. Curtis was employed in the bakery department of the former Bell's Supermarket in Salamanca and previously at the former Salamanca Nursing Home.

She enjoyed making jewelry, crafting, sewing, being outdoors and camping. She loved animals especially dogs and cats.

Surviving are: 3 daughters, Sharon (William) Threadgill, Great Valley, New York, Karen Sheldon, Frewsburg, New York, Dawn (Mark) Walker, Springville, New York; 2 sons, David (Nancy) Curtis, Great Valley, New York, Dale Curtis, Jamestown, New York; 2 sisters, Margaret White, Buffalo, New York, Selah See, Ischua , New York; 3 brothers, Edward Post, West Seneca, New York, Robert (Reba) Weber, Virginia, John (Joyce) Carney, Buffalo, New York; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Michael Curtis, a sister Margaret Carney, and a brother, James Carney.

Memorial visitation will be held in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 10-11 A.M. at which time services will be held with the Reverend Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
