Ruth Jimerson Bova
Ruth Jimerson Bova, age 79, of 641 South Loop Road, Steamburg, New York passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, in the comfort of her home following a long illness.
Born on December 10, 1932 in Onoville, New York she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Cynthia Jimerson. She was married to Myron Charles Bova in Frewsburg, New York who predeceased her on March 15, 2008.
Ruth was a graduate of Salamanca Central High School.
She was employed for many years at ACME Electric in Allegany, New York prior to her retirement.
Ruth and her family were among the many families removed from Onoville to Steamburg due to the building of the Kinzua Dam.
She enjoyed doing beadwork and making corn husk dolls. She enjoyed her family, sitting on her porch, and picnics at the family camp in Onoville.
Ruth was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Wolf Clan. She was a sealed member of the New Apostolic Church, Jamestown, New York.
Surviving are: a son, David (Dorene) Bova, Steamburg, New York; 5 daughters, Judy (Ron) Jimerson, Patricia (Marlet) John, Cynthia Jemison, Charlene (Wilbur) John, all of Steamburg, New York, Sharon ((Jerry) Atwood, Salamanca, New York; 13 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Jimerson, Port Charlotte, FLA; a sister, Colleen Frailey, Steamburg, New York; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Clinton Charles Bova, 4 sisters, Rosine Mohawk, Vera Baker, Delores Oldshield Bowen, Elenora Bova Bowen, and a brother, Wilbur Jimerson.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. at the New Apostolic Church, 314 Hall Avenue, Jamestown, New York with Pastor Michael Komula, officiating.
Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery, Steamburg, New York at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Company, American Diabetes Association, or Home Care & Hospice, 1225 West State Street, Olean, New York 14760.
