Sam Smith - October 4, 2007

Mr. Sam F. Smith, age 67, of Salamanca, New York died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at his home.

Born on January 15, 1940 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the Mark & Lillian Forgue Smith.

Mr. Smith was a 1958 graduate of Randolph High School. He graduated from Buffalo State Teacher's College with his Bachelor's Degree in 1962.

He was employed at BOCES in Olean, New York from 1967 until his retirement in 1996.

Mr. Smith was a member of the New York State United Teachers Union. He enjoyed antiques, gardening and home remodeling.

Surviving are: a daughter, Alisa M. (William) Smith-Riel, Dekalb, Il.; ex wife, Mary Jane Murray, Dekalb, Il.; 3 grandchildren, Mark O. Smith-Riel, Lily C. Smith-Riel, Erin E. Smith-Riel, all of DeKalb, Il.; a cousin, Donald Smith, Cattaraugus, New York.

There will be no visitation.

A celebration of his life will be held at The Old Library Restaurant on Friday, October 19, 2007 from 6-8 P.M.

Mr. Smith donated his body to the The University At Buffalo Medical School.
