Shirley C. Pollock
Shirley C. Pollock, age 91, formerly of Hillview Homes, Salamanca, New York died early Thursday morning, March 31, 2016 at The Absolut of Salamanca, New York, following a long illness.
Born January 5, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Roy and Verna Harold Chamberlain. She was married on August 2, 1952 to Mr. Howard Pollock who predeceased her on June 2, 1981.
She had been employed with Parkview Supermarket in Salamanca, New York for over twenty years, working as a cashier, as well as in the bakery.
She was a former member of the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her extended family that knew her as Grandma. She also enjoyed knitting, especially baby clothing. She made sweaters for all her grandchildren, as well as giving many of them away to children she never knew.
Surviving are: a daughter, Candace (Joseph Fiedler) Taylor, Walton, NY; two sons, Bruce (Lindy) Pollock, Ellicottville, NY, Robert (Beth Woodward) Pollock, Rochester, NY; daughter-in-law, Kelly Pollock, Randolph, NY; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Pennell, Salamanca, NY, Marjorie Allen, Clarence, NY; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, George Chamberlain and a sister, Winifred Hill.
Friends may attend a memorial visitation at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., at which time a Celebration of Life will be held.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
