Shirley M. Reed

Mrs. Shirley M. Reed, 88, of Salamanca, NY died early Monday morning, January 23, 2017 at the Olean General Hospital.

Born April 2, 1928 in New Albion, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nelly Chaffee Spink. She was married on October 6, 1949 to Mr. Keith L. Reed Sr., who survives.

Along with her husband, she was co-owner of the former Reed’s Newsroom and Reed’s Cab Service.

She was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter 162.

Mrs. Reed loved playing cards and antiquing.

Surviving beside her husband are: a son, Kevin (Heather) Reed, Kill Buck, NY; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; a sister, Kathryn (Douglas) Rau, Big Pine Key, FL; three half sisters; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberlee Reed Riley, and a son, Keith L. Reed Jr.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday and Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the United Congregational Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Trenchard, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
