Stephen Green
Stephen Green, 96, of Lincoln Avenue, Salamanca, New York, died Saturday evening, January 10, 2015 at the Absolut at Allegany, Allegany, New York.
Born November 23, 1918 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Stephen C. and Marie Fisher Green.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 27th Army Infantry Division, 105th Field Artillery Battalion in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon.
He had been employed as an Engineer with the former B&O Railroad for over forty years prior to his retirement.
Mr. Green enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews compete in sporting activity.
Surviving are: a niece, Barbara Green Morgan, Tavares, FL; a nephew, William (Shirley) Green, Cattaraugus, NY; 3 great-nieces, Christie (Kevin) Green Davenport, Berea, OH, Sheila (Thomas) Green Callen, Allegany, NY, Amy (Michael) Morgan Raczkowski, Tavares, FL; a great-nephew, Steven (Melissa) Morgan, Tavares, FL; 5 great-great nieces; 2 great-great nephews.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Michael Lonto officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296.
