Theresa Banton
Mrs. Theresa Banton, 105, of the Absolut at Salamanca, formerly of Eden Heights, Olean, New York and Clinton Street, Salamanca, New York died Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2015 at the Olean General Hospital.
Born August 30, 1909 in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Edna Dry Rozwadoski. She was married on September 25, 1944 to Mr. Milo Banton, who predeceased her on July 19, 1974.
She had been employed in the cafeteria at Prospect Elementary School prior to her retirement. Previously, she had been employed at Fitzgerald Brothers’ Department Store.
Mrs. Banton was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, the former Holy Cross Church, and the Holy Cross Rosary Society, where she served as Treasurer for many years.
Surviving are: a son, Mark (Michele) Banton, Trenton, MI; a step-daughter, Diane (Syd) Uhl, Salamanca, NY; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a step-son, Gene Banton and a grandson, Larry Uhl.
Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Tuesday from 4 – 9 p.m.
A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Peace Parish at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.
Members of the Our Lady of Peace Rosary Society will recite The Rosary of Christian Hope Tuesday evening at 7:30.
Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
