Timothy Jones

Timothy Jones, 74, of Salamanca, NY died Wednesday evening, October 13, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA as a result of complications from COVID-19.

Born August 27, 1947 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Paul and Mamie Dowdy Jones.

He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Turtle Clan.

Tim was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam where he received Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, a Combat Infantry Badge, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He had been employed with Seneca Gaming and Entertainment, retiring in 2016, as well as a bus driver for Salamanca Central School for over ten years. He had also been employed with Con Rail, Salamanca, NY.

He enjoyed interacting with his family, golf, bowling, and sporing events. He was an avid tennis player and he played in several softball leagues throughout the area. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, following the Buffalo Sabres and Bandits, as well as watching the UB Bulls Women’s Basketball.

Surviving are: four daughters, Cara Jones, Helena, MT, Desiree Jones, Salamanca, NY, Samantha Harris, Franklinville, NY, Heather Johnson, Salamanca, NY; eight sons, Les (Sherri) Jones, Todd Jones, Jay (Deborah) Jones, all of Helena, MT, Jared (Heather) Jones, Jeremy Jones, both of Salamanca, NY, Jamie Story, Lakewood, NY, Spencer George, Tampa, FL, Timothy Beeles, Slippery Rock, AR; a brother, Curtis (Sally) Watt, Salamanca, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; his longtime companion, Patty Flood, Randolph, NY.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Judith Cooper and Marilyn Cooper.

Friends may call at the family home, 211 Clinton Street, Salamanca, NY beginning Saturday afternoon, October 16, 2021 and continuing all day Sunday.

Funeral services will be held in the family home on Monday at 10am with members of the Coldspring Longhouse, officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Iroquois Post 1587.
