William "Butch" Oldshield
Mr. William "Butch" Oldshield, age 61, of Steamburg, NY, died Tuesday morning, October 11, at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo, NY following a short illness.
Born July 13, 1950 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Delores Jimerson Oldshield.
Mr. Oldshield was a self-employed logger.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Wolf Clan. He was at Wounded Knee with the American Indian Movement, and he participated in the Sun Dances. He was a lay advocate for AIM.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Surviving are: 8 sons, Greg, Steamburg, NY, Thunder Oldshield, Michigan, Dustin Frank, Jimersontown, NY, Sky Horne, South Dakota, Owintino Horne, South Dakota, Bill Smoke, Rochester, NY, Thomas and Colter Oldshield (sons of Toni Oldshield), both of Salamanca, NY; 2 daughters, Yebishawn Oldshield, Wayland, MI, and Carli Dee (Ed Buffalo) Oldshield, Steamburg, NY; 1 step-daughter, Andrea Lounsbury, Salamanca, NY; 1 sister, Wendy Oldshield, Salamanca, NY, several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; a special friend, Angie John, Steamburg, NY.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Aleuta Oldshield, and a brother, Robert "Tom" Oldshield.
Friends may call at the family home, 93 South Loop, Steamburg, NY starting Thursday at 1 p.m. and continuing Friday.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday in the family home at 10 a.m. with John Block, speaker of the Coldspring Longhouse, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.
